Connecting your first channel

Siren generates assets. A connected channel is what puts them in front of an audience. This article covers how to connect one, what Siren can and cannot do after you connect, and how to revoke access.

Where to connect

Settings β†’ Connected Accounts. There is a card for each platform Siren supports: X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Each card shows connection status and the OAuth button. You can connect multiple accounts per platform on Pro and higher.

What happens during OAuth

Clicking Connect sends you to the platform's own authorization screen. You grant Siren specific scopes. Siren requests only what it needs to read your public profile name and post on your behalf. It does not request DMs, follower lists, or account settings.

Scopes per platform:

  • X: tweet.write, tweet.read, users.read. Siren posts tweets and reads your public profile name. It cannot read your DMs, delete tweets you did not create through Siren, or change account settings.
  • LinkedIn: openid, profile, w_member_social, plus r_organization_social and w_organization_social when LinkedIn grants company-page posting. After Connect, pick Me or a company page you admin. Existing connections must reconnect to grant page scopes. Siren cannot see your connection list or message your contacts.
  • Instagram: instagram_basic, instagram_content_publish. Siren publishes posts to your connected business or creator account. It cannot see your DMs or manage your followers.
  • YouTube: youtube.upload. Siren uploads videos to your channel. It cannot delete videos, see your private analytics, or manage your subscribers.
  • TikTok: user.info.basic, user.info.profile, video.publish, video.list. Siren publishes the approved video to your TikTok account and reads back that video's public engagement. TikTok is video-only. It cannot see your DMs, live, or follower list.

After you authorize, Siren receives an OAuth token and stores it encrypted (Fernet) at rest. Siren never sees your platform password.

Channel caps by plan. Spark 1, Pro 2, Scale 4. Upgrade if you need more platforms connected at once.

After connecting

Once connected, Schedule and Post campaign become active on a finished campaign. Schedule opens a calendar in your local time. You pick X, Instagram, TikTok, or everything. Siren drafts a caption per network, then posts those platforms in order at that time. Post campaign sends now. Every dispatch is visible in Distribution. Upcoming scheduled posts also show on Assets.

Agents (MCP) can pass scheduled_at on create_campaign, or call schedule_post after the run finishes. Allow posting must be on.

Siren does not auto-post from the dashboard unless you approve. API keys are available on every plan, Spark included, for Studio and programmatic automation.

Revoking access

Disconnect any account from Settings β†’ Connected Accounts β†’ Disconnect. This immediately invalidates the stored token. Siren will not attempt further posts to that account.

To be thorough, also revoke the app on the platform side:

  • X β†’ Settings β†’ Security β†’ Apps and sessions
  • LinkedIn β†’ Settings & Privacy β†’ Data privacy β†’ Third-party apps
  • Instagram β†’ Settings β†’ Security β†’ Apps and websites
  • YouTube β†’ Google Account β†’ Security β†’ Third-party apps with account access
  • TikTok β†’ Settings β†’ Security β†’ Manage app permissions

Troubleshooting

  • Post fails immediately: the OAuth token may have expired. Disconnect and reconnect. This is most common for Instagram and LinkedIn, which issue shorter-lived tokens.
  • Post button is greyed out: the run is still rendering, or no channel is connected. Wait for the video or still to finish, then check Channels.
  • Wrong account posted: if you have multiple connected accounts, check which account is selected in the Post dialog before dispatch.
